RESIDENCY
2019
Hamilton Arts Council / The Cotton Factory
Anita Thomas was awarded a three-month artist residency at The Cotton Factory in downtown Hamilton from March to May 2019. Thanks go out to the Cotton Factory and Hamilton Arts Council for this amazing opportunity. Thomas’ plan was to continue with her east coast acrylic painting series and also to experiment with a new upcycling technique she’d apply to her encaustic paintings in this series. At the end of the residency, Thomas held an artist talk and exhibition along with the other artist, Karen Logan, with whom she was sharing the studio space. Anita also displayed some of her photography from that incredible motorcycle trip she made in 2016, the source of her inspiration for this project.
